Do you see that kid eating a gingerbread West Virginia? His name is Cameron, and the idea to create each U.S. State out of food and rename them with a pun was his idea.
It began innocently enough when Cam suggested to me, “Dad… What if you made States, but like, they were made of food?” My response was something along the lines of, “That’s been done to death already, son… Go to bed.”
Then Cam added, “But what if they had funny names like New Pork or New Jerky?” It was at that moment that I realized the kid could be on to something.
So, with my design and culinary background, I took the kid's idea, made all 50 US States out of food and The Foodnited States was born. The original photo series became a hit on Instagram and brought the both of us a bit of internet and TV fame.
After much request from fans to do so, the States were made into posters, fridge magnets, stickers, and Foodnited States T-shirts. Have a look around our shop, and let us know how we're doing.
